Barbara Kruger
Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1945, Barbara Kruger grew up during a transformative era in American advertising. She started her training at Syracuse University’s School of Art and continued her education at the Parsons School of Design in New York. Kruger’s artwork directly engages her audience through the use of first and second-person pronouns, offering commentary on social, political issues, and mainstream media.
